Water, blue food production, climate nexus
Our waters and the climate are tightly connected to food security through seafood production.
We live on a blue planet with 71% of its surface covered by water. Oceans, rivers and lakes play an important role in climate and weather and provide nutritious food for billions of people. There is immense potential for increased seafood production both in Sweden and around the world through sustainable aquaculture and conscientious utilisation of marine bioresources.
Contributions to this session will relate to:
- Blue food: aquaculture, fisheries, circular food production, food security
- Climate change: climate change effects – challenges and possibilities
- Coastal: eutrophication, pollution and ecosystem restoration
